The Goddess Artemis: Wallpaper

Desktop wallpaper in honor of Artemis, the Greek goddess of the Hunt. She is also the moon goddess, and one of the virgin maiden goddesses of Olympus, the others being Athena and Hestia. She is the sister of the sun god Apollo, who is also the god of music, poetry, and medicine. They are the twin children of Zeus and the mortal Leto. In one myth, a woman named Niobe boasted that she was greater than Leto because she had many children, whereas Leto only had two. Leto called upon Artemis and Apollo, and her two children slew all of Niobe's children with their bows and arrows.
Recently, Artemis has enjoyed a surge in popularity due to Rick Riordan's bestselling series Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and his recently debuted sequel series The Heroes of Olympus. In those books, Artemis appears as an auburn-haired twelve-year-old girl with a company of similarly aged girls called the Hunters of Artemis, all decked out in silver and white clothes, carrying bows and accompanied by white timber wolves.
